It is a auxiliary drier containing 6%, 8%, 10% and 16% zinc.

Zinc Octoate is used in combination with other metal driers to facilitate complete drying and prevent wrinkling on the surface. When used in early stages in paint systems, it acts as an excellent wetting and dispersing agent. It improves grinding in the production process and shortens production times. It is used in polyester applications at 22°C, as a polyurethane catalyst, an oxidizing drier, a wear and rust preventive additive for lubricants and a PVC heat stabilizer intermediate.

It is soluble in organic solvents and oils. Like calcium, zinc is an auxiliary drier and is often used in combination with other driers.
