ZIRCONIUM OCTOATE

It is used as a base and intermediate layer drier in alkyd-based air-drying industrial paints and varnishes. It is available in different types with 6%, 12%, 18%, and 24% metal ratios.

Zirconium is one of the most effective and efficient auxiliary driers. It acts as a drier like lead and is usually used with cobalt, manganese, and calcium. Unlike lead, zirconium is a weak pigment wetting and dispersing agent, but it is an active crosslinker; thus, it increases the hardness and adhesion of the hardened films.

It is soluble in organic solvents and oils. When used with cobalt, it can replace lead and is preferred to eliminate the ecological disadvantages of lead driers. Zirconium Octoate is usually used with cobalt driers to form a hard film and can be used instead of lead driers. It is suitable for the use of 75% of lead drier.
